The lobby was spacious and looked clean, and I really liked the wall art made from traditional Korean fans in the reception area. Staff offered a room upgrade, and the room itself was dated but functional. The mountain and valley view was beautiful. The exterior also looks dated. Soundproofing is poor, so I could hear the next door guests partying late into the night. After 10pm, an unpleasant methane sewer smell came from the bathroom and stayed all night until checkout.

Ssangyesa, the famous temple, is nearby. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and the view was great. The location works really well for a walking or cycling holiday.

The lobby has a stunning design, and maybe that's where the budget went. Our one-night stay was a letdown on the basics. I knew the room hadn't been renovated, but I still wasn't expecting broken furniture and a damaged kitchen cabinet. There's also a damaged rail on the balcony. Hopefully the morning view from the room will ease my disappointment a little. I've never left a bad Google review before, but I feel I have to write one. Based on the room quality, I don't think this should be classified as a hotel.

I wish I'd read these reviews before booking. The rooms really are very old, maybe 30 years old, and the furniture is damaged. I'd stayed at Kensington Seorak San before, so I had higher expectations.

The hotel shop sells affordable Korean-designed tea ware, and having a CU convenience store right on the ground floor was great. I booked in advance for a room with an outdoor bath and a view. Highly recommended.
