Curve Hotel Iksan

The staff were friendly, and the rooms were okay, though not really up to high-end hotel standards. The building and facilities look old. Breakfast was just okay, with two choices, American or Korean. If you're not keen on local food, the American option may be the safer bet, sorry to say. There aren't many English speakers around, so this hotel might be the only choice. It's reasonably priced for the area and goes by a few names, including Grandpalace Hotel and Grand Hotel, apparently after changing owners over time. Taxi drivers don't recognize the English name, so bring the Korean name and address in Hangeul. If I'm in Gimje again, I'd stay here, since from what I've heard there aren't many business hotels nearby.

I had a good one-night stay. Breakfast came in just two styles, American or Korean, which I guess may be because they don't get visitors often.

The rooms were clean, though the elevator and some other facilities still weren't fully satisfactory after the remodeling. There's a convenience store across from the hotel, and the sauna is men-only. Restaurants are scarce nearby, so if you're coming from Iksan Station, it's better to eat before arriving. With so many motels in the area, walking in from the main road might feel a little scary if you check in late.

I rarely write reviews, but this was the worst. The bathroom had a sewage smell, the rooms were old and not cleaned properly, and the soundproofing was poor. Every time a train went by, it got noisy. Even the elevator floor tiles were all broken and felt dangerous. I regret not choosing a motel instead.
