Hotel The Designers Incheon

The pool was reportedly under construction. The Wi-Fi was an open public network, slow in my room and unreliable, and the staff didn’t speak English. Their translation app left me guessing what they meant. The room felt like design had been given priority over function, and it showed everywhere. The light remote mostly didn’t work, and getting the bathroom light required taking the room card out of the main switch and putting it back in. Then the bathroom stayed lit for only a few minutes. There was a hot plate but hardly any kitchenware, just a hot pot and two cups, not even a spoon. I could find only one working outlet, at the far end of the room. The middle outlet had a timer that lasted a few seconds, while the one tucked inside the kitchen furniture didn’t work at all. Water leaked out of the shower and left the nice floor dangerously slippery.

There’s plenty to eat nearby, and the place is close to the stations. But I wouldn’t recommend it. Parking was tight, and although the room was nicely designed, it wasn’t practical. The toilet and shower were separated from the bedroom only by frosted glass, and the sink sat in a narrow space. There seemed to be water damage on the wooden floor. Cleanliness was the worst part: my sheets had a yellow stain, and both the towels and pillowcase had holes. The other rooms looked different, so I can’t say what those are like.

The room was decent and the decor was cute, but it was so hot and we couldn’t adjust the temperature because there was no thermostat. We ended up sleeping with the window open in the middle of winter. Also, the front desk didn’t speak English, which was a first for me at a hotel.

It was an okay stay, and the sheets and other linens were clean. The room itself looked very worn, with a scratched and dented table and a hole in the bathroom wall that a painting didn’t cover very well. The online wording made it seem like we were paying the full price upfront, but that turned out to be less than half. Since the front desk staff had limited English, it was confusing to understand why we had to pay more.
