Ocean Soleview Hotel

The room had a great view, fairly clean sheets, and the stay was good overall, especially for the low fare. But thick dust near the AC vent needs cleaning. The area was fairly quiet, though people set off firecrackers past midnight and disturbed my friend. The bigger problem was the bedding. I booked an ondol room for three adults for two nights, but there was only bedding for two. When I complained, the front desk said the hotel only supports two guests and blamed Hotels.com. Hotels.com customer service couldn’t help either, saying they don’t speak Korean. I asked for extra bedding, but the front desk said that wasn’t allowed and I couldn’t even pay for it. I ended up sleeping on the floor without bedding and had back pain. It’s inappropriate for the booking system to allow three adults if the hotel can’t accommodate them. I hope they fix this so future guests don’t have the same problem.

The area felt deserted and isolated, with no attractions or amenities within walking distance. I had to take frequent $30 cab rides to get around. The listing said there was an in-room washer and dryer, but guests aren’t allowed to use them, and there are no laundromats nearby. I booked a room with a spa, but it looked unclean and I wasn’t comfortable using it. Check-in and checkout are mainly through self-service kiosks, and staff aren’t always available for questions or concerns. I also couldn’t use the TV because all the programming was in Korean and there were no instructions for the language settings or remote. 4/24/25-4/24/25

The location is good, but this was the worst service ever. The guy with specs at the front desk wasn’t helpful at all and was super rude. When I asked for help, he smirked with an attitude that felt like, “you’re on your own, and I don’t care.” Because it was winter, we couldn’t turn on the aircon and had to open the balcony door. Then BBQ smell kept floating in, and the whole room stank of it. I won’t be coming back to this hotel!

I paid $30 a night for unit 1809, the penthouse with the best view. It’s incredible, and completely silent, with no traffic or loud neighbors. It seems really well constructed. I’m still stunned it wasn’t priced at least 10x higher, especially when a worse hotel in the more popular tourist parts of Seoul would cost about twice as much. This is a hidden gem of a studio, with high-quality appliances like the microwave, shower, and washer-dryer, plus that incredible view.
