Ogamul Hanok Guesthouse

Getting here would probably be a struggle without a private car, but once there, the old house is peaceful. I remember staying overnight at the Jo Byeong-su Old House on a student field trip about middle class Joseon Dynasty homes, and the owner kindly let us interview them. It has since been renovated as a guesthouse. The residence dates to 1890 and has a roughly square layout, with some corners cut off. The inner quarters have three bays across and one and a half deep, with the main bedroom and a side room on either side of the central hall. The kitchen sits beside the main bedroom, and a lowered section of its ceiling creates an attic for that bedroom. Around the main gate in the gatehouse are a guest room to the east and a single room plus storage to the west, with a veranda in front.
