The room itself was nice, but the finishes didn’t match what I expected at this price. The pool hours are frustrating too, only 11:00 to 18:00, which makes it hard to use if you’re staying just one night. Prices were especially inflated during the holidays.

I went in with low expectations because Jaeun Island is way down in Korea’s southwest, but the place turned out better than I thought. It’s clean and well organized, and the staff were friendly. There are beaches and ocean views on three sides, especially lovely at sunset, plus a restaurant, CVS, recreation center, and water park. It opened in 2022 with C-One resort.

We skipped the pool after learning it cost an extra 35k kwon per person, and headed for the beach instead. In the room, though, there was just one full-size towel, and we were told another would cost extra. Later, two restaurants listed on the check-in amenity sheet were closed, so we ended up at the Korean BBQ. The portions felt small for the prices, and we went across the hall for KFC (Korean fried chicken) afterward. We’d also hoped to have a drink outside and watch the sunset, but both places with outdoor seating were shut. Check-in on Friday was easy, and we got a sheet with amenity hours, though it didn’t prepare us for all the closures and extra charges. We made do without the second towel and enjoyed the beach, but I’d save the money and find an Air BnB.

The room was really nice and spacious, and the view was beautiful. Mokpo is a bit far away, about a 40-minute trip.
