Jecheon Oslo

This is honestly the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The reviews on accommodation apps like Yanolja or Yeogi Eottae seem practically fraudulent, and I’m sure they include false information. Inside and out, the building felt like it belonged in the 80s or 90s. It was cramped, smelly, unhygienic, and seemed to have every bad condition imaginable. In my first room, there were snack wrappers from the previous guest and curly hair stuck to the sheets. It looked as if someone had just thrown the sheets down because they appeared clean after a short-term rental or the prior guest. I called the front desk, and they moved me to the room straight across the hall. That one smelled unpleasant too and felt so bleak and uncomfortable that it even had an ashtray inside. The lighting was very dim, the space was tiny, and the bed sagged badly and creaked as though all its springs had broken. There was a strange smell in the room, but the bathroom smelled even worse. The shower kept shifting between hot and cold, making the temperature a mess. I felt I could easily have been burned. The room was so filthy that I was afraid to take my clothes off, so I slept dressed. I felt uneasy and barely slept all night. It wasn’t even that cheap compared with other motels, and the facilities were so old and unpleasant that the stay left me with poor memories of my trip to Jecheon. If you’re looking at accommodation apps, please be careful and don’t be fooled by their reviews.

The heating is reliable and the hot water is good. For the price, the stay was satisfactory. The room is small, so anyone who dislikes tight spaces should factor that in. Being right by Jecheon Station is handy if you're traveling by train. There aren't many places for young people nearby, and downtown is an awkward walk away, but if you don't mind walking or taking a taxi, you should be able to sleep without trouble.

The bedding didn't match the photos, but I could let that go. The cigarette smell was much harder to ignore. I left the windows open for hours and sprayed the body mist I had with me around the place, yet the whole house still seemed steeped in smoke. My nose went numb, so I slept fine, haha, but my clothes came out smelling of cigarettes too and I wanted to wash them straight away. The heating does work well, though. ☺

For about 40,000 won, the quality is quite good. The place is clean, and the owner is really friendly. It feels more like an inn than a motel.
