Amber Pure Hill Hotels & Resorts Jeju

Trash and plastic were scattered all over the tourist spot. It was extremely dirty and disappointing, nothing like the brochures or tourism ads. I wouldn’t come back.

We had booked the New Wing Hill Luna family room for two nights. The drive there went through several bends, and on arrival the front desk building had a grand view and the crew made a strong impression. The attic toilet had nowhere to hang clothes, and its flush was faulty. The bidet spray also turned on by itself when someone sat down. The basin was outside the toilet, and using it splashed water into the room. We had to reach behind the TV to operate the receiver because it was mounted at the back. The air conditioning kept cycling on and off to adjust the temperature, but the attic still felt stuffy and stagnant. There wasn’t a proper dining area for a family planning to eat in, and the small fridge didn’t get cold. For personal reasons, we declined the offer to switch rooms and checked out the next day, giving up the second night, which had cost us SGD$500+.

We came to slow down and get away from the bustle, and the resort went beyond what we expected. We were surprised to be the only Americans there during our stay. It’s on a switchback road, about 10 minutes from Mt. Hallasan’s Gwaneumsa Trail. If you don’t like mountain settings or being far from convenience stores, this probably isn’t the place for you. We liked the seclusion and ended up spending a lot of time enjoying the hotel. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the room had nice touches like bath bombs and desserts. The gym, spa, and pool were all great. The pool was especially amazing, and I appreciated not having to wear a swimmers cap!! The buffet had a delicious spread for both western and eastern tastes, and we didn’t get tired of it. We also bought unlimited Heineken with our stay, which felt like a great deal for relaxing in the evenings. If we’re in Jeju again, we’ll absolutely book here. A few ideas: cocktails on the pool menu, facial and massage services at the spa, and maybe partnerships with local businesses for horseback riding or guided hikes.

Getting up to the mountain means a bit of a drive to everything else, but I liked the seclusion and enjoyed every moment at the hotel. It’s a beautiful resort, with friendly, thoughtful employees and lodging and amenities that feel current and very luxurious. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
