Jeju Marevo Beach Hotel

I stayed one night while road-tripping around Jeju and felt I got a lot for the price. The room had a great view, parking was free, the beach was close, and the service was friendly. I’d recommend it.

The beach is lovely, and the sunset is amazing. You can walk along it to Handam coastal walk and the popular Aweol cafe area. Check-in is only after 4 pm; coming an hour earlier or checking out later costs 10,000 won. There’s a convenience store open late, along with a bigger local mart that only opens at night. The area is almost dead in the morning, but we did find a small Korean and dumpling restaurant nearby. Quite a few fried chicken places are within walking distance.

Check-in was pleasant and friendly at 4 pm, and the room layout was better than I expected after reading negative reviews. My double room had a sea view, though it looked out over a run-down park camping area and the public beach parking lot. The AC has no cooling mode, which made sleeping difficult, and reception wouldn’t give me the remote. Across from the hotel, the teenager-operated Wasup Beach House Bar played music outside until midnight, even though the street was empty and there were no patrons. The hotel doesn’t serve meals, just some pastries and cake, with plastic samples on display at reception.

The beach view was good, and the hotel had a somewhat nice vibe, though parts felt worn out. The bed was awful, with springs poking through and a wobble that made it hard to sleep. For that price, it was too much.
