Jeju Seoul Tourist Hotel

Breakfast was a good buffet, and the dining room on the 10th floor had a magnificent view. The location is another plus, only about a five-minute walk to the night market. The room was clean and tidy, and the toilet had an automatic cleaning feature. The polyester sheets and blanket weren't very comfortable, though, and my hair dryer broke after three seconds. My friend's room had a broken dryer too.

There isn't much useful storage in the room. It had a few coat hooks and a very tall, wide closet, but no shelves or hooks inside for hanging things. The bathroom had no tub, which apparently isn't unusual in South Korea, and the floor got a bit wet when I showered. Neither was a big deal, though. Otherwise, I liked the hotel. It was very clean, looked nice, and had spacious rooms in a good area with plenty of restaurants. The front desk spoke English, and the staff were great. I arrived to find two full-sized towels and two bottles of water; on my second day, another bag with two hand towels, two bath towels, and two bottles was left at my door. A sea-view room costs a few thousand won extra and is worth considering. The airport is about a 45-minute walk if, like me, you're too stubborn to learn the bus system for a two-day stay.

The room was fine for the price, and the location was great. But the reception staff were incredibly rude. I was trying to add another night to my reservation and couldn't communicate with them. They barely spoke English and didn't try to make themselves understood. They handed me the keys and told me not to smoke, with nothing else. That was quite a welcome.

The location is genuinely convenient. Ocean Suites Hotel, a meeting point for many JeJu tours, is about a four-minute walk away. There’s a bhc (beer and chicken) and other restaurants nearby, Dongmun market is around ten minutes on foot, and taxis are easy to find. I tried to be objective with my three-star rating, but the service was a horrible experience. This hotel didn't feel welcoming to non-Korean tourists. I asked the receptionist, who seemed to be in his late 40s or early 50s, a question, and he didn't understand English beyond the basics. He made no effort to understand me or use Google Translate, and didn't offer Wi-Fi access. Wi-Fi depended on the room number, but it didn't work in my room even though the room next door had access. When I checked out at 6:30 am, nobody was at reception. I'd give the service one out of ten. I hope they read reviews and improve the reception staff.
