The check-in left me disappointed, especially since this was my first hostel in Jeju and my first trip there. The owner didn’t speak English and seemed to stop interacting with me after realizing I spoke English. I also had to help her find my name on the guest list. She kept saying I was booked into the 8-bed female room even though I’d booked the 4-bed female room, then for some reason entered me in the male room in the computer system. That wasn’t the kind of hospitality they seemed to offer. The place wasn’t very clean and seemed barely maintained. I was the only person in the room, so noise wasn’t an issue for me. Still, a warmer welcome could have changed how I felt about the stay. Just saying!

My flight was canceled because of bad weather, so I ended up booking at the last minute and couldn't get around much in Jeju. Still, this turned out to be the best day of my trip in South Korea. The pub downstairs was a lot of fun, and the bartender was great. The staff were really friendly, and having someone who spoke English helped me a lot. The place was easy to find, and the bed, room, and bathroom were clean. Keep up the good work!

The owner was friendly, and towels and a water dispenser were provided. The hostel was fine for a short visit, but after just one night at Miso Guesthouse I had at least 20 mosquito bites. She handles everything with a translation app because she doesn't speak English.

The place was clean and modern, and the price is shockingly low. If money is all that matters and you're a broke backpacker, you get a lot for what you pay. But I wouldn't stay here again, even for free. I had a horrible night, and if getting decent sleep matters, look elsewhere. In November the thermostats were set to 25 degrees (77 for my fellow Americans). Add Jeju's humidity and a top bunk, and it was unbearably hot. I wanted to take off as much as I could while staying decent. That brought its own problem: mosquitoes. The red marks on the walls and ceiling made sense after I killed two and saw countless others get away. With the heat and bugs, it felt like sleeping in a jungle outdoors. It's the worst sleep I've had in a hostel, apart from times when someone was snoring like a jet engine. The beds felt small and had the hard feel common in Korean-style beds. This place calls itself a hostel, but there's very little English spoken. If you don't speak much Korean, expect awkward conversations and not much information. The prices really are fantastic, but you get what you pay for. If you're Korean, these things might not bother you, so keep that in mind.

The living conditions were rough: I got 30+ mosquito bites a night, the door handles were rusty, and the beds were super uncomfortable. On my first day, I also came back to find someone had opened my storage lockers. The kid in charge was one of the worst people I've met. I understand the place is cheap and that he has a strictly business mentality, but that doesn't excuse treating people badly in hospitality. He demanded cash, stubbornly, while not honoring Airbnb, and confronted me until things got physical. I also wouldn't let him take a photo of your passport. I only let him photograph my health card. I think he has anger issues. I have video of him going off over food items in the common area, which has a stove and fridge, even though apparently food isn't allowed there. He also lost it over shoes getting on the floors. Things like that made him swear at me and later attack me during a temper tantrum.
