Ocean Suites Jeju Hotel

The staff were among the kindest we’ve met, answering our questions and even helping when I thought I’d lost my sunglasses. Their service made the stay feel easy and welcoming. The location is hard to beat: Ocean Suites Hotel is right by the ocean, and our hire car worked well with the free on-site parking. The late-night convenience store, open until 2 am, came in handy, and the small cafe or bakery downstairs was a nice touch. We stayed three nights and had a really good experience overall. The room was very spacious, with a large extra room we didn’t end up using, which was a nice surprise. The bathroom, though, was extremely small and a bit uncomfortable, and one day they left only extra hand towels instead of proper bath towels. If they improve the bathroom setup, it would be an excellent stay.

The front desk service was decent, and the location was alright, about a 15-minute walk to the shopping area. We stayed eight nights, but the room wasn’t what we wanted. We needed more open space for our luggage, yet were given a room with an extra room that felt inconvenient. It was clean, but I wasn’t keen on the bedding quality, and the furnishings looked old. The toilet area was cramped, with a tiny vanity top. The in-house laundry didn’t seem clean, so we used a nearby self-service laundry instead, about a 10-minute walk away.

The ocean view was beautiful, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast had almost no vegetarian choices, though, and there wasn’t even any tea. I hope they improve the food options for vegetarian guests.

The location made it easy to walk to dong mun market, and olive and young is just behind the hotel. I booked an ocean view room through agoda for about S$74, but the first room faced a building at the back. I spoke to the manager the next day and he agreed to move me. I would have made a fuss otherwise, since I paid for an ocean view and that’s what I wanted in jeju. The view from the replacement room was nice, with planes regularly passing by. The room itself was big and clean, though there was no proper wardrobe or luggage stand. They also don’t provide toothbrushes or toothpaste, which seems common in jeju hotels. It’s annoying, but there’s a convenience store less than two minutes away on the right. I stayed four nights.
