Raon Hotel & Resort

The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the woman looking after the dining room was absolutely wonderful 👏. The hotel itself feels tired and badly in need of an update. For the location, the price seemed almost too good to be true. It gives the impression that management isn’t keen to invest in the rooms or service, and there’s just one front desk person, busy checking guests in while handling other jobs too. If you stay, I’d recommend signing up for breakfast.

The rooms are spacious and nice, but they feel worn and haven’t been updated in a long time. The bathroom was the best part :) There was no breakfast included, which seemed like it should be part of a hotel at this price, and no amenities were provided. The pool experience was bad. There was dog poop behind a lounge chair at the indoor pool, and it looked like it had been there a while. Staff focused on stopping us from swimming without caps instead of cleaning it up. No sign said hats were required, and we weren’t told about the rule until we were already heading into the water. A Korean guest helped translate, and staff blamed us for not speaking Korean, even though a Korean-English speaker had helped us at the desk when we paid and hadn’t mentioned caps. We ended up having to pay to rent them.

The airport shuttle was very convenient since the airport is about an hour away. You can safely walk to the beach in under half an hour, and I’d recommend the hotel, especially for golfers. The rooms were decent and spacious, and the staff were very friendly. There was a check-in mix-up because of language difficulties, but they generously gave me free tickets for the pool, the Ma Park horse show, the zoo, and gokarting. That gesture made it impossible for me to rate the stay below five stars. Breakfast was okay, though quite Korean in style, with no pastries.

We got a very nice, comfortable room at a great rate when we were there in early March. The staff were friendly, and 7/11 stayed open until 10 p.m. It suited what we needed perfectly.
