Gloucesterhotel Jeonju

There are lots of nearby stores, arcades and movies, which makes this beautiful hotel convenient. Our room was super clean, and there were two complimentary bottles of water in the fridge. I was glad the gym was clean too and had some of my favorite machines. I'll update this after trying breakfast. Update: Breakfast is self-serve, with plenty of seating and a good variety. I went for a typical American plate of waffles, eggs and sausage, and it was pretty yummy, didn't disappoint.

Everything about the stay felt just right.

I normally don't bother writing when I'm unhappy, but this kept bothering me, so here goes. The first room had a strong air freshener smell when I walked in. It seemed okay once I got inside, but the bathroom smelled heavily of mold even with the fan running. I asked to switch rooms. A staff member was kind and gave me another key, checked the new room, and said it was fine. I trusted that and moved, but its bathroom had the same moldy smell. I considered asking to move again, but figured it would be no different, and I was already going out for food, so I stayed. The smell didn't seem to come from the toilet. The bathroom wasn't especially old or dirty, either. I suspected the floor drain, covered it with the bath mat, and when I came back the odor had mostly gone. The fan, though, sounded like a helicopter. I wanted to leave it on to deal with the smell, but it was too loud to sleep with. I also couldn't tell whether the light and fan shared a switch. On top of that, there were used cotton swabs beside the tea and mugs. The bathroom looked reasonably clean, but the smell and fan noise made this the worst hotel I've stayed in. The price and location are decent. Check the bathroom as soon as you get your room. The soundproofing wasn't great either, since I could hear TVs in other rooms.
