Jeonju Hotel Barahan

I came back on April 3, 2024, and the room was clean and cozy again. I book here whenever I'm in town for work, and somehow it feels more like a vacation than a business trip. I got a good rest. It's about a five-minute walk from the terminal. The room costs 70,000 won a night, with no breakfast, and I liked how spacious and comfortable it was. The hallway and elevator were a bit dark, which might suit couples wanting a quiet moment, but didn't feel quite right for business travel. Since the place seems set up for relaxing, there was no desk or lamp, which made working in the room inconvenient. Still, I'd come back on a sightseeing trip. I was satisfied.

My reservation for several holiday-weekend nights was cancelled the day before I was due to arrive, on Friday, with “interior renovations” given as the reason. I can't tell whether something suddenly broke in the room I used on Thursday, or whether they chose to start work during the expensive Golden Week weekend. I hope they didn't just make up a weak excuse because they regretted honoring the low price I booked in advance. Whatever happened, this place wrecked my vacation. I don't plan to ever return to Jeonju.

I was happy with the room, though I can't say whether I just got a particularly good one. The passage between the bedroom and bathroom was right there when I came in, and it made the whole place feel bigger. Even after spending a long time inside, I didn't feel cramped. Cleaning was better than I expected from the reviews, too. I was only there for two nights, but while I was out they tidied and reset the room completely. There was a laptop and microwave, and Netflix worked on the TV.

The bathtub is huge and has a whirlpool, which is a nice feature. The interior is modern and clean, and little things like the free bottled water and coffee beans are handy. Staff weren't friendly every time, though.
