The owner stood out most for me. He was so kind and accommodating, gave me a map of Jeonju with tips on nearby things to do, and shared snacks with me and other travelers, including bakery items, rice wine, and Korean fruit. I really enjoyed my two nights here as a solo traveler in the four-bed dorm. The location is great, less than a 10-minute walk from the Hanok Village. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were very clean, and with two bathrooms for each gender I rarely had to wait. Unlike at many hostels in Korea, mosquitoes didn’t ruin my sleep. There was a basic breakfast. I think you can eat it whenever, though I didn’t try, so you could ask the owner. The shared space was nicely decorated and welcoming, which made it easy to meet other travelers. It’s quite a social hostel. If you’re in Jeonju, Nearest Guesthouse is your place.

I’m sorry to give only two stars, especially since the owner speaks English and the hostel is in a good location. But by the cleanliness standards I’ve seen in South Korea, this place fell short. The bathroom carpets were full of mold, and the sofas were dirty too. I’m very sorry about this review.

The hostel was thoughtfully decorated, with lots of personal touches, and the atmosphere was always sociable. We often sat together to eat and drink. Mr. Lim was friendly and pleasant, and one of his friends took us sailing. It was amazing. I’ve only had good experiences here, and it’s one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. I can only recommend it.

Mr Lim was so welcoming and speaks English really well. He was happy to help me figure out what to see, do, and eat. The hostel is a short walk from the Hanok village, and there's a lobby with basic toast and coffee in the morning. Rooms are small and simple, but affordable, and the friendly feel makes the place special. If you're lucky, Mr Lim might play his traditional drum and sing. I stayed in May 2019.
