Taejo Maru

I really liked the pretty garden, especially for taking photos, and the owner was so kind...^^ The rooms are connected in a straight line, so the space felt smaller than I expected. Still, being near the tourist attractions made it convenient. It's a Hanok, a traditional Korean house.

The courtyard is lovely, and being right by the Hanok Village is convenient for spending time there. The room was fairly clean, though the bathroom tiles and shampoo bottles could have been cleaner. It felt cramped, at just over 3 pyeong including the bathroom. They were friendly when I checked in, but at checkout nobody came out or even moved their car. Just an okay stay.

The best part was the location: Gyeonggijeon Shrine, Jeongdong Cathedral, and the Hanok Village are all within a five-minute walk. The young male owner was kind, but the yard looked smaller than it did in the photos. I hadn't stayed in a Hanok before and booked in a rush without much research. Ants came out of cracks in the room, the bathroom was awkward to use, parking was tight, and the accommodation felt inconvenient overall.

The owner was really friendly, and the place would be good value if not for what happened. Guesthouse facilities and soundproofing aren't great, so guests need to be considerate about noise. Before 7 p.m., some sensitive and rather unruly people complained about noise while we were there. They were from the neighboring guesthouse, Nabijam. I wonder if everyone has been feeling victimized lately because of COVID-19.
