I had the same experience someone else described. They cancel your booking, or pressure you to cancel it yourself, giving excuses like construction. These practices should be reported to Booking.com or similar sites so businesses that act this way can be pushed out of the industry.

I booked three nights, October 3-6, weeks ahead, for the local holidays. Today Agoda told me the reservation had been cancelled, without anyone contacting me. I can only assume they found someone willing to pay more than the rate we booked at. Now, with the holidays just two weeks away, I’ve had to find somewhere else and pay three times the usual price. For a new hotel, this is a terrible start. Shameless!
