Getting up there wasn’t easy.

I had a good stay at this hotel.

It’s called a hotel, though I’d say it’s more like a motel. My room wasn’t big, but it had what I needed, including a TV and toiletries, and the rate was quite reasonable for the holiday season. The view was great, looking out over the Imjin River with the sunset in the distance. The place sits higher up than other accommodations nearby, so shops and restaurants, including convenience stores, are a bit of a walk. If you need anything, it’s a good idea to pick it up before checking in. Parking is easy, with underground spaces and a lift straight to the rooms, plus more parking on the ground floor. There’s a hot and cold water dispenser and some simple snacks by the first-floor elevator.

Jayuro Motel is next to Q Hotel and costs 35,000 won a night. It’s a popular spot known mostly through word of mouth, especially among long-term workers, even though the sign isn’t very noticeable. You can still get a room on Christmas or New Year’s Eve. Saturdays and special dates cost 40,000 won, plus 10,000 won for each extra person. There’s no PC.
