Parkview Terrace Hotel

I’m writing about my stay at Park View Terrace Hotel in Paju in the hope that future international guests can make an informed choice. The account below reflects what I know to be true, and I have photos, video, messages, and witnesses to support it. I’m sharing this to alert others and avoid a similar experience, not to defame the hotel. I had paid in advance for a month, from May 29 through June 28, 2025. On June 16, after a friend came by with her dog, the hotel phoned me at 10:00 PM and said I had to leave by 11:00 AM the following morning. I hadn’t received any warning beforehand or a written notice. Right after the call, I got a text saying my door code had been disabled, so I was worried I could be locked out if I stepped out. I didn’t know there was a no-pet rule. The room rules and cleaning sheet in English didn’t say anything about one, and nobody explained such a policy to me verbally in English. I’d seen other guests with dogs, and there’s a petting zoo on the building’s top floor, so I’d thought pets were allowed. I asked for extra time to pack and to speak with a manager, but both requests were refused. At 11:10 AM on June 17, another call told me it was time to check out. Two police officers came around noon after the hotel reported that I was “disrupting business.” They found no problem and left. At about 3:00 PM, the hotel cut off the Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and room phone. It was over 90°F outside, and the room became uncomfortable and hard to stay in. Soon after, texts from personal phone numbers included legal threats, requests for cleaning fees, and warnings that I might be charged to replace the wallpaper and flooring, before anyone had inspected the room. The manager also declined when we asked to walk through it together. I left at 11:00 PM that night. When I asked the front desk why things had been handled this way, a staff member said on video that “she [the manager] was mad,” and that the manager had treated other guests similarly before. I was offered two choices: leave immediately and lose the deposit plus the 11 nights I hadn’t used, or book a separate “pet room” as an “upgrade,” without any credit for my original booking. That would mean paying for two rooms at once. I left the room clean and took photos as a record. The hotel still hasn’t returned my deposit or refunded the unused nights, and the experience caused me serious financial and emotional stress. I can’t recommend Park View Terrace at this point. I’m posting this public warning so international guests can be aware and protect themselves. If the hotel offers a resolution, I’m open to updating this review.

I’ve been enjoying everything here. The view is amazing, the price is reasonable, and the staff are professional. The room was spotless and laid out well, with a small washer and kitchen. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants close by.

Getting back from Goyang or Seoul at night can be difficult once the metro stops, though the hotel itself is in a great location with excellent views. I had a great stay, 9/10. Staff were helpful and accommodating despite the language barrier. I couldn’t find any food room service, but there are lots of restaurants nearby. It would also help to have English instructions in the room for the TV remote, Wi-Fi, and telephone.

Those loft rooms with the bed upstairs are badly laid out. The headroom is so low you’d need to be a hobbit, and the stairs are really steep and slippery. Some wardrobes are so tall you’d need to be an NBA basketballer to reach the hangers. There’s no bidet or heated toilet seat either, which isn’t great in winter.
