W1 Hotel Paju

A good hotel.

We spent our summer vacation as a family in the VVIP room on the 10th floor. It’s a spacious duplex, with a separate room and bedroom upstairs, plus a meeting or workshop area before you step out to the terrace. The terrace has barbecue facilities and a kitchen, and the view is one of the highlights. Everything was well arranged and maintained, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The hotel is right beside Bunker Hill, a well-known cafe in Paju where you can get tasty brunch and coffee. The VVIP room is said to be famous because actor Jung Woo-sung stayed there while filming the MBC drama Triangle.

For a VIP room that you have to call and reserve directly, this was a real letdown. I only used the sink briefly, but water leaked everywhere, and all kinds of debris came out of the whirlpool. I had to call the front desk at 1:30 in the morning while I was filling it. I paid a lot for a weekend stay, and I’ve never had a VIP room experience like this before. Putting up posters about disinfecting and cleanliness isn’t enough, they need to follow through. This wasn’t worth even one star.

It’s out on the outskirts, which made for a quiet rest. The convenience store and restaurants are a bit far away, but the area is nice for walking. Too bad I didn’t manage to take any pictures.
