The good Naver reviews had me expecting more, so I came away disappointed. There weren't any trash bags or bins, and I wasn't sure where to put the rubbish. The barbecue charge is based on the number of people: for six adults, it's definitely 40,000 won. Even going down one level, the regular price is still 40,000 won. I can't speak to how friendly they are, but the place felt like it was missing something.
The living room opens onto an ocean view, and there's plenty of room for a big group, with two bedrooms and a large common space. The rooms are dated and aren't luxurious, but the pension sits right by Odori Beach, a popular snorkeling spot in Pohang. We went in September, with the autumn breeze, and the sea was clear and warm enough for a great snorkel. From the beach, stairs lead straight up to the pension. There's lots of outdoor barbecue space, and the pension store rents life vests. Hot water worked, though the pressure was a little weak, and there's a sink at the entrance for washing your feet and hands. Big cafes and a few small restaurants are nearby. The convenience store is a 10-minute walk away, so it's best to buy groceries ahead of time. For a reasonably priced, atmospheric day with friends you haven't seen in a while, this could be a nice option.
