Getting away from the harsh city left me feeling at peace. It was the most healing experience of my life, a little like Van Gogh finding peace by exchanging 668 letters with his brother Theo.

The building is really old, and getting a parking spot is a nightmare. The parking lot is barely palm-sized, and the slope is so steep I was sweating as soon as I drove up. Heungjeong Valley is about 5km away, so you have to drive there. It’s frustrating, with nothing nearby but potato and sweet potato fields.

There are lots of bugs, and the place is high up, so going back and forth is tiring. It’s also difficult if you have a lot of luggage.
