The owner is friendly, and the cool air around Daegwallyeong makes this a nice place to escape the heat. It's quiet here, and in summer I liked that there were no mosquitoes and hardly any forest insects such as moths around the pension. They said they'd built small steps down to the stream behind the pension, but maybe we came late in the season this year, because we were disappointed we couldn't play there. We still had a great time in the lower part of the Sogumgang Valley in Yeongokcheon, Gangneung. Nearby, Anbandegi and Samyang Ranch are also places you can take young children.

The pension inside was clean and fine, but the wind at Baramui Maeul Uiyaji was incredibly strong. They'd blocked the windows in the Darjeeling Veranda where we stayed, so we couldn't open them. That meant no fresh mountain air when we woke up, and we couldn't step outside at night to look at the stars. I heard the dogs there sometimes pull sleds for guests' children, but there weren't any around, and the snow had melted by the time we visited, so we didn't see that either.

The place itself is beautiful, and the surrounding views are stunning too. Inside was spotless, and it really stands apart from other pensions. We made wonderful memories here.

A lovely pension in the embrace of Daegwallyeong. Summer evenings get chilly, which keeps the mosquitoes away, and you can see the Big Dipper.

There was a valley, but we couldn't get to it. The room hadn't been cleaned well, the door handle didn't work properly, and the service was poor. The signs weren't positioned properly either.
