Backpacker's Home

Backpackers Home felt like home away from home. The owner and staff treated us like family, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and a good size for backpackers. The huge common area had hammocks, chairs, tables, and even a little fire. They also held an all-you-can-eat BBQ night, a perfect way to arrive in Korea and meet people. One of the best hostels in Jeju, and I really wish I’d stayed longer!

The staff-organized KBBQ dinner was delicious and a fun way to meet other travelers. The hostel is only a few blocks from the bus stop and Seogwipo night market. Rooms were clean, wifi worked well, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Jeju.

For the price, I can’t think of a better option. The hostel was really clean, the managers were very friendly and spoke good English, and breakfast was good and filling. I’d definitely come back. I was concerned about the two golden retrievers, though. They were always chained outside on the terrace, seemed too fat, and I didn’t think they were ever taken for walks. Their fur was really dirty, and they had no aircon. It sometimes gets over 30 degrees here, and they were always outside, whether in their hut or under the tree. They didn’t seem happy and deserve better.

The friendly staff were very helpful, and the basement bar is superb. Breakfast is great for the price. The rooms and floors could use a touch-up, the windows need cleaning, and the rooftop could be better organized with bigger towels.
