H.Y Choi Hostel

The shower was tepid, and they only provided small hand towels. There was no washing machine, despite one appearing in the room photo. The window had no view, but let in a lot of light. The automatic lights were annoying because you couldn't switch on just the bathroom light. The room smelled of damp wood, and the staff were practically absent and completely unhelpful. Awful and overpriced. I don't understand how the reviews are so positive. Spend your money somewhere more deserving.

My first trip to Jeju was wonderful, and staying at Choi Hostel was a big part of that. I had no idea public transport was so limited or that so few people spoke English. Around 2 AM, we got lost after arriving from the very far away airport, but a super nice lady from Jeju accompanied us until we were near the accommodation. She was definitely our life saviour. People in Jeju are super friendly, and I'll certainly come back. The room was spacious and nice, the price affordable, and the service excellent. Choi was so kind and lovely. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Choi Hostel around the beginning of January. The owners were friendly and accommodating, and gave good travel advice. The rooms were large and very clean, and the facilities were awesome. The island wasn't too busy, but that was probably because it was low season. Great place to stay in Jeju, I can't recommend it enough.

The room was spacious and conveniently located near Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, Olle Market, and Art&Culture street. There were three power sockets, but only one worked. We had trouble getting a taxi. KakaoT couldn't find one, and there was nobody at the hostel reception, just a phone number. I called and explained the situation using a translation app, since I'm not Korean and the staff member couldn't speak English. I understand that, and I tried to make communication easier. Still, the staff member sounded annoyed, hung up twice while I was talking, and was angry and even raised her voice during almost ten calls. She did eventually book us a taxi, but I can't help mentioning her bad attitude. Why should staff get annoyed with guests who don't speak Korean when the guest is making an effort to use a translator? The staff member seemed annoyed that I didn't speak English either. Hostel management should look into this and teach staff to use translation apps with foreign guests instead of getting angry.
