Hotel California Jeju

The rooms are spacious and very clean. There's a store downstairs, and the owners are nice. Ask for an ocean-view room.

At 1:40 a.m., I was woken by the sound of the door lock opening. A hotel employee unlocked my room and came in with a drunk man. I was in my pajamas and startled, and I shouted to ask what was going on. The employee checked my name several times but kept rambling about irrelevant things. I told them to leave immediately. The next day I found out what had happened. The drunk man had lost his room key and told the employee that my room was his, asking them to open the door. The employee let him in without checking who he was. Would they open the door for a thief too? At a hotel where privacy and safety should matter, their amateur response made for the worst night. They only apologized verbally and gave me no compensation. I've stayed in places in many countries, and this was the worst experience I've ever had. I absolutely can't recommend it.

The owner makes a delicious breakfast, and you can see both the World Cup Stadium and the ocean from the hotel. It's clean and comfortable, and I'd highly recommend staying here for sightseeing or business in Jeju. I recently stayed again at the California Hotel. Around 70 high school students from Seoul were there on a field trip for two nights and three days, so breakfast was served as a buffet for the group. The food was tasty and clearly made with care.
