Hotel Harusida

Our room was spacious and quiet, with tatami mats and a private terrace with a hot tub. Sanbangsan Mountain is right in front, and its appearance kept changing with the clouds, fog, and sunlight. Set in the beautiful south of the island, this was one of our most memorable hotel stays. A unique experience, unlike the usual vacation accommodation.

The location wasn’t great for us. We had to drive everywhere for food, and there’s nothing within about 1 km. Check-in was strictly at 4 pm. Even though it was raining and cold, and the place didn’t seem full, we still had to wait. We booked a standard room, and it was already impressive: clean, big, with a great bathroom. It also had an outdoor tub 🛁, which we couldn’t use because it rained on the few days we were there. Service isn’t like at a hotel with room turn-down. They just empty the rubbish and replace towels and water.

We mostly stayed in and made the most of the private outdoor jacuzzi, which had a great view. The room was roomy and comfortable, with that Japanese ryokan feel, and the owners kindly helped us order delivery so we could relax. There are a few restaurants about a 10-minute walk away, or you can take a taxi. Harusida is on Jeju's southwest side, about 10-15 minutes by car or taxi from Osulloc, Hello Kitty Island, and several good black pork restaurants. The east side is around 1 hour 45 minutes away, so I'd add a day or two if you want to explore over there. We got in from the airport at about 5:40 pm after landing around 4:30, including the wait for luggage. The taxi took about 45 minutes and cost roughly 34,000 won. I didn't rent a car, though I'd recommend one for a family or if you want more freedom to get around. It was our first visit to Jeju, and we wanted a quiet break from the city. This was a lovely place for that, whether you're with family or your partner. I'd come back for another peaceful getaway.
