The owner seems so attached to the pension that there are lots of restrictions, and it felt like he just wanted to sleep. The breakfast was pretty underwhelming too, just bread and drinks. Cooking options are limited, so this isn’t a great choice for families. If you’re hoping to grill meat or anything like that, you’d be better off finding another pension nearby.

I paid about 78,000 won for one night at Shell Story Resort on the last day of my vacation. The children’s laughter as I came into the building put me in a good mood, and check-in was quick. The place wasn’t exactly clean, but it was spacious and had a spa, so it seemed fine for a one-day stay. I swam from 7 to 9, then used the spa in my room and slept well. Because of my boat schedule, I asked to check out at 3:00. They agreed for another 20,000 won, so I had a great time swimming until 2:00 the next day before checking out.
The homemade jam at breakfast was delicious, which was simple otherwise. The owner was friendly, and the rooms were roomy, with an open view from the large windows. You’ll want to use the blinds on the first floor since people can see in. It’s a peaceful area with lots of fields and low buildings, no tall ones around.
The room’s spa was big enough for two adults, and there were toiletries like soap, shampoo, body cream, and toothpaste, though no full toiletry set. There were no cooking tools such as cutlery or pots, just a gas stove, plus a sponge and dish soap. Heating is controlled centrally, so you can ask them to adjust it if you’re cold. They said delivery through Yogiyo was possible, but I didn’t try it myself. For one night in a Couple Spa Room, I paid 79,000 KRW. The name has since changed to Taeyeon5289. The website said check-in was at 3 PM, but when I arrived I was told it was 6 PM. With the outdoor BBQ area unavailable due to COVID-19, they offered a portable gas stove in the indoor pub for free, but outside alcohol wasn’t allowed there, so you had to buy drinks inside. The facilities felt outdated, and the refrigerator in my room hadn’t been cleaned properly. The heating issue aside, the cleanliness and the failure to let guests know about the check-in time put me off. I don’t want to give a rating, have no plans to return, and will choose another nearby spa pension next time since one of them has a 3 PM check-in.
We’re planning to bring my in-laws here in October for their 70th birthday. They love hot springs, so it seems just right. Sanbangsan Mountain’s carbonated hot springs make for a breathtaking view, and the owner is friendly. It’s also quiet, with fresh air and clean rooms. The price was surprisingly affordable for a place right in the middle of the south, making it handy for visiting the area’s attractions. The pool is huge, and the lawn is as wide as a playground, with soft grass where kids can run around and play with water guns without getting hurt. The reviews were right, it’s great value.
