LeMain Hotel Seogwipo

The neighborhood gets peaceful after sunset, and there's a Hanaro Mart across from the hotel for picking up necessities. My room faced the sea, with Mt. Sanbang visible to the right. It was spacious and pleasant, with wooden floors. The room and bedding were clean and in good condition. The floor got scorching hot like a traditional Korean ondol around dawn, even though I hadn't turned on the room heating. At the same time, an unidentifiable sewer smell came up from the living room sink. In mid-October the daytime temperature reached 28 degrees Celsius, so I slept with the air conditioner on while the floor stayed hot. It felt like a needless waste of energy. There's no separate front desk or staff on site, so you have to call. During the day they answered right away, but at night the line was constantly busy. The table and chairs were there, but dragging them made a lot of noise, and noise between floors was quite noticeable too.

At first I was a little disappointed because it seemed like there wasn't much around, but then I could see the ocean from the room. Across the street there's a Nonghyup local food store, a tangerine orchard, a famous bakery, a well-known restaurant, and a small, pretty cafe. It turned out to be really great, and seems like a nice hotel for a quiet, uncrowded trip.

The room was spacious, and the area was quiet. It gets plenty of morning sun, with a glimpse of the sea through the window. The place runs unmanned. I'm not sure I'd return with family or friends, but for a solo trip I think it's not bad.

The room and location were both great, but the noise has put me off coming back. From 6 PM until 4 AM there was a constant, crazy sound, and I couldn't sleep well. I couldn't tell whether it was planes or the wind outside. At first I thought it was planes, but it was hard to believe, and it was really windy that day. I checked reviews on various sites and saw some people say the wind noise gets incredibly loud on higher floors. Shouldn't the hotel warn guests ahead of time or ask for their understanding? Even if you're not a light sleeper, constant noise can drive you crazy. Why was there no advance notice? Other people are spending precious time traveling too. Nobody wants to feel anxious and lose sleep on a trip.
