Marriott Jeju Shinhwa World Hotels & Resorts

My husband and I visited Jeju for the first time, and he used his Marriott points so we could stay here. We hadn’t realized how large the resort was, but we had a great time. From the welcome on our first night after the flight to the lovely cleaning staff and assistants, everyone made a good impression. The front desk and restaurant staff communicated very well in English. There’s plenty to do, from movies and shopping to the amusement park attached to the residence. I’d recommend it to families, couples, or anyone looking for a well-earned vacation. I hope we can come back.

We spent one night each at Marriott Shinhwa and JW Marriott Jeju, and Marriott Shinhwa gave us a much better stay despite costing less. As a Bonvoy Platinum member, I was upgraded to a deluxe suite without asking, likely because occupancy was low during our early March visit. Breakfast was our standout. At S$114 a night with breakfast included through my Platinum Bonvoy status, it felt like a steal, even compared with Airbnb. The spread was luxurious, with familiar Western and Asian dishes as well as Korean items such as bulgolgi pork and raw beef. The food was excellent, and the staff were friendly and capable. Parking was easy to reach in the hotel basement. You use your room key card to get in, though for the first entry you need a temporary card from the bellboy. The resort and theme park setting reminded me of a smaller Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. We didn’t care for it, as it felt artificial rather than local. To reach the outdoor restaurants and theme parks, you have to walk through the premium outlets, apparently intended for casino winners. It was cold and quiet during our stay. Some attractions, including the Tea Museum, Innisfree, Arte Kids Park, and a few nice cafes, are within a 10-minute drive, but there isn’t much else nearby. One night suited us.

Kuk at the front desk made my arrival at Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort & Spa feel warm and well looked after. I arrived unexpectedly early, and he calmly went out of his way to help. His English was good, and he handled everything smoothly without needing me to explain much. That care made a real difference to the start of my stay. The service team was attentive and well staffed, and the managers and supervisors were hands-on, humble, and warm. Thank you, Kuk and the staff. I left with a great impression and didn’t regret choosing Marriott over L hotel. A few little details stood out: the small mirror by the toilet shower area was easy to miss but useful; the tables had neat metal cutlery rests; and coffee was served in insulated jars, so it stayed hot without needing to wait for staff. The guest room also had an automated toilet door and a warm toilet seat. Breakfast offered a good international selection. The Marriott and VIP sections of the dining restaurant could be labeled more clearly, and the dining area windows could have been cleaner.

Everything was nicely maintained and clean. It’s a beautiful resort with plenty of restaurants, a pharmacy, a convenience store, a mall, and a nice casino. There are also large rooms for meetings or big gatherings.
