Shinshin Hotel Cheonjiyeon

I was disappointed by how things were handled during my stay. On the first day, I asked for an extra pillow because the one provided was too soft, but the request was refused. Later my partner asked the counter staff for the same thing and got one without a problem. That inconsistency felt unfair, like guests were being treated by different standards. I also left a new jacket in the room by accident. I noticed that evening after checking into another hotel in Jeju and tried calling, but couldn’t reach anyone, so I emailed. Within 20 minutes they acknowledged the message and said they’d check and get back to me. By the following evening, the only update was that they still hadn’t checked. That follow-up was very disappointing. I hope management takes this seriously and improves consistency in service and responsiveness to guest concerns.

The location worked well for us, with Olle market, food streets, restaurants, coffee, bars, a convenience store across the road, and a laundromat nearby. There’s a great view of Mt.Hallasan too. Amenities are provided except toothbrush and toothpaste, which you can buy at 7/11. Breakfast was so-so, but not bad for 15,000Krw. Parking can be tricky. If you get there early, you might find a spot in the building’s elevated parking, which is for sedan high-car only. Otherwise street parking is normal. There’s also partner parking about 3-5 minutes’ walk toward the market, and they refund the fee if you bring the receipt. We paid 2,500 overnight but didn’t mind missing the refund because we lost the receipt. I’d consider staying again. 👌👌👌 Thank you!

The big roach in our room was the dealbreaker for me. Staff moved us right away, but we couldn’t get over it. They have an “anti-bug” policy, which should have been a red flag. Staff said exterminators come regularly and had last visited two weeks before we stayed, but that roach was huge. In the replacement room, we kept checking for bugs and found questionable stains, dust, and holes. At least there were no bugs, so we put up with it for the one night. Our first room also smelled of cigarettes, even though we’d requested a non-smoking room. When I asked for an extra pillow at 9pm before bed, they said no and told us we could get one in the morning, which didn’t help for a one-night stay. There are some good points: the location is great, across from a 7/11 and an eight-minute walk from the food market. It was good value at about 40 cad a night, with a spacious room, free underground parking, an easy check-in, and coin laundry across the street. The service staff did what they could under the policy, but management needs to maintain the building better. We’re not picky and could overlook the other issues, but the roach is where I draw the line. You get what you pay for, so take care before booking.

The room smelled strongly of cigarettes even though I’d asked for non-smoking. The carpet was stained from the moment you step out of the lift, and the lobby had so much perfume sprayed around to cover up the hotel’s stuffy, unpleasant smell. You can hear toilets flushing on other floors, and the window doesn’t block sound. I wouldn’t want to walk on the room floor without sandals. This was a really lousy hotel, not even worth three stars. Total scam.
