Tropical Hideaway

The space felt open, with a large parking lot, a wide store layout, a nice view, and a calm atmosphere. It seems like a nice place to bring parents. We ordered crab roe rosé pasta and a hummus and mushroom sandwich. There were only about four tables occupied, but I noticed some kitchen food looked pre-made and suspected ours might have been too. We had to collect our own order, and the table wasn’t clean when we sat down. At ₩34,000, I wasn’t sure the meal was worth it. I don’t think I’ll return. 🥲

We stopped in the late afternoon for a beer and a light bite, and the views were great. The restaurant is on the ground floor of the Tropical Hideaway Hotel. You can get coffee drinks, and there’s also a full bar with lots of local and international beers on tap. We shared the fried shrimp and calamari combo with fries, which were seasoned just right. The calamari was a little chewy, though that may be a local preference, and it was still delicious. We didn’t order the Caesar salad, but it looked very good. There are plenty of other menu choices, plus a nice range of pastries and locally made takeout cookies that looked tempting. The food was great, the interior was trendy and nicely decorated, and the place was spacious. Parking was easy, though it wasn’t high season. I’d consider staying at the hotel, especially with food this good.

A nice place to visit on quieter days, with pretty good views and good coffee. The bakery selection is limited, but there’s an all-day brunch. There’s also a boutique hotel upstairs.

After days of Korean food, it was nice to find a good-quality bakery in Jeju with a lovely view. A relaxed place to wind down after the Songaksan hike, and the prices are reasonable.
