The garden was peaceful and nice to walk around, with plenty of flowers and trees. That was the good part. The cleanliness needs more attention: our cup had lipstick on it, there was hair stuck to the soap, and the bedding smelled unpleasant. On the first day, we were given a few large Hallabong oranges, which we appreciated. But once peeled, they were so dry we couldn’t eat them. A Jeju resident would have noticed just by looking. Did you think we wouldn’t notice because we’re outsiders?

The accommodation itself wasn’t bad, though the floor heating was uneven. While I was staying there, I tested positive for COVID-19. I couldn’t afford to go to the public health center for a test, so I asked permission to take one in the yard. The result was inconclusive, and I had to test again. The owner got furious, saying that business would suffer if people found out a confirmed case had visited. I apologized several times, but they kept swearing at me. I was eventually diagnosed with COVID-19 and sent to a community treatment center. They still refused to refund the money for my previous extension, saying all the used bedding had to be incinerated.

The rooms are private, with their own bathrooms and cooking facilities, and there’s parking. They’re also very warm, and Wi-Fi is available. The owner is friendly. I’m satisfied overall, though you can’t pay by credit card, so you’ll need cash or a bank transfer.

The garden is lovely, especially the old Jeju crafts and weathered wood. It feels like a considerate, welcoming home.
