Cheonho Orange

I got there around 10:00, though check-in wasn’t until 15:00. I didn’t mind waiting at reception, but the person there saw me and let me into my room early. They helped carry my luggage and showed me how to work the door. The room was nice and suited one or two people. It had a computer and TV, plus drinking water, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, and other things. I didn’t take a photo when I first arrived, but everything was just right for me.

Good price, and the hostel is near the park. The owner is warm and friendly.

The owners and their family made us feel so welcome. They were incredibly kind and even carried our luggage up the stairs. I’m pretty sure it’s a family-run motel, and their care made the whole stay comfortable. The building and rooms are definitely old, but the owner clearly works hard to keep everything clean and usable. The location is awesome, too. Cheonho station and Hyundai department store are a 3-5 minute walk away, along with a factory outlet, great restaurants, lots of convenience stores, and a Daiso about three minutes away. I loved this motel. If you’re fine with a modest stay in a somewhat tight space, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a hidden gem in Seoul for really affordable accommodation.

The Korean family who runs this place made our week at the Orange Hotel. My friend needed a pharmacy, and the owner actually walked with him to find the right medicine. I’ve never had that kind of help, even at seven-star hotels. They were so nice, and whenever I asked for something, they took care of it promptly. The owner felt like family and even carried our very heavy luggage out himself, despite us pleading with him not to. He did it because he cared. The stay wasn’t perfect. The towels were too small, the staff spoke very little English so I had to use Google Translate, and the toilet wasn’t great, so I got very good at using a plunger. But it’s so cheap that comparing it with a Ritz Carlton wouldn’t be fair. If you want a more local stay and would rather spend your travel budget on food and sightseeing, this is a good option if you can live with a few accommodation drawbacks. It’s close to Cheonho metro, too, so getting around is easy. I’d vouch for it completely for the hospitality. I wish more people cared about their businesses the way this owner does.
