I booked this place to stay near Jamsil, but the room was unbearably hot, stuffy, and smelled bad, like a local sauna. I checked in around 8:40 PM and found I couldn’t control the heater or AC. The automatic setting was around 83 F. They moved me to another room on a different floor, but it was just as hot and stinky. At 9pm I asked for a refund so I could stay somewhere else. Instead they charged my card a 100 USD fee for “using the room,” even though I hadn’t unpacked or used the bathroom. I apologized to the front desk for the trouble and was ignored. Save your money and time, avoid this hotel please 🙏🏻. Thank me later.

It’s good for the price, with a fairly large, clean room that has both a bath and a shower cabin. It’s near subway line 9, though far from downtown, about an hour away by subway. One thing to watch: the air conditioning is controlled with the TV remote. I can recommend it.

The staff were awesome, and I really enjoyed my stay. There were scenic views of Lotte World, which is also within walking distance, plus shopping and high-quality food, including takeout, close by. The bathrooms were huge, with tubs and showers. Everything was more than promised!

The downside is the noise. Since it’s right across the street from Lotte World, you can hear the traffic and people screaming as the rides toss them into the air. Still, I loved staying at Hotel Lake and would 100% come back. It’s fantastic value, with free parking, a big plus in Seoul where spaces are hard to find and fees are notoriously expensive. The location is amazing if you’re visiting Lotte World and nearby attractions.
