Guesthouse Gilson

We arrived late at night with the kids, and we could tell we were at Guigoksanjang from the way the owner's grandfather walked, haha. The room was clean and nice. We had a view of Ulsanbawi, but it was raining, so we couldn’t see it. ^^;;

In the four-person dorm, the bedroom is pretty small, with just a bed and room to walk around. The air conditioning on the second floor blew right on us, so it could get cold. Apart from that, everything was great. The amenities were well stocked and free to use, which made the place feel like home. There were more taxis around than I expected, and you can catch the bus by checking the timetable.

The family room floor had flies and mosquitoes, there was hair in the bathroom, and dust had gathered in the corners and on the shelves. It felt like the room hadn’t been cleaned at all. Even cheap places these days might have fewer amenities or furniture, or feel cramped, but most are clean. I was surprised after reading the other reviews.

The owners and their family were so kind, and the stay had the comfort of home. It’s a guesthouse, but I was able to properly relax there. There were plenty of towels, cool air conditioning, rooms in good condition, a convenient restaurant, and a pick-up service. Prices were reasonable, and it was comfortable, good, kind, and clean. I’ll definitely stay at Gilson next time I’m in Sokcho.
