Kensington Hotel Seorak

The rooms are really spacious, with nice beds and a Smart TV that has Netflix and more. It's a good value hotel in a great spot, about five minutes from the Seoraksan National Park gate. To get down to Sokcho, you can take a city bus or a taxi for around €12. We stayed in January 2026. Staff were helpful, though English communication was very limited. A few things could be better. The carpet looked dirty and dusty in several spots, especially behind the furniture. There was dust and mould on the fabric in the bathroom lamps, which felt like a hygiene issue. The shower's hot water lasted only about 10 minutes, not enough for two people, though maybe that was just our room. On our last day, a movie was being filmed in the lobby, but things weren't organized well. Guests were left wandering around and were “kindly” escorted outside so they wouldn't interrupt filming, even though it was -4 outside. Our taxi arrived right away, but I didn't appreciate the way it was handled.

It's about a six-minute walk to Mt. Seorak National Park and the cable car station. The hotel is beautiful, with an antique design, spacious rooms and lovely views. The staff were polite and respectful; some didn't speak much English, but we managed to communicate. There's a self-service laundry room on the second floor. The front desk seemed to ignore guest feedback. I reported a big spider web in my room, but nothing was done. Even the housekeeper left it there after cleaning, safe and sound 🤣🤣. Public transport to Sokcho Town isn't very frequent. Still, it's a good and beautiful place to stay.

The breakfast had lots of options, and we also had a really lovely dinner. The rooms were very spacious and clean, and the hotel itself was nice. I'd call it a good four-star place, though not a luxurious five-star hotel. The national park is within walking distance, which is great, but getting into the city means having a car or hiring a taxi. I'd recommend having a car.

The place has plenty of charm, and there’s memorabilia all around the hotel to browse. Our room had been overbooked when we arrived, but the staff moved us to an upgraded room for the whole stay. Maintenance does show the hotel is past its prime. Still, we’d happily come back.
