Sunrise Hotel

I stay here twice a year, starting in 2023, and the location, price, and quality are all reasons I'd recommend it. The naming is confusing, though. Koreans know it as ‘sunrise hotel,’ while foreigners see another name, ‘air bnb.’ I found out when I helped a traveler from Sweden who had a different name for the same place.

This is a nice office-style hotel in the Sokcho area, with a decent-sized room and a large fridge. Check-in is handled by phone, so it's contactless. Parking is cramped and can be difficult. Also, the shower wall is short, so water can spill onto the bathroom floor.

The location is great, but the parking instructions were confusing and messy. I wound up in a lot that wasn't designated for the hotel without realizing it, and nearly couldn't get out at the end. Clearer directions would've made this a good stay. There also seemed to be very few people working at reception.

The balcony views are stunning, and this is excellent value for a central Sokcho stay. It's an apartment hotel a short walk from the main street, the ferry to Abai Village, and Sokcho Central Market. We spent four nights in a Junior Suite with a compact kitchenette and lounge, a good bathroom, a small double bedroom, and a balcony. The washing machine was especially useful since we're traveling for a long time.
