Fortuna Hotel

Good.

Top Mart is right behind the hotel, and there's a GS25 about 20 meters to the left. The promenade along the ocean out front was pleasant for an evening walk by the Tongyeong night sea. For getting around, we left the car at the hotel and used public transportation. The stop in front of Top Mart, next to the hotel, has buses that mostly go to Tongyeong Central Market, about a 10-minute ride away. Parking at the hotel was convenient, and when it filled up, we could use the paid street lot across the road. Our room was big enough for two, and the bathroom had plenty of space. The sink faucet wasn't secured, so we told the staff about it at checkout for the next guest. They should have checked the fixtures before we arrived. Water pressure was weak but usable. The bathroom is divided from the room by opaque film, though it's not fully private, so keep that in mind when choosing a room. The air conditioning was uncomfortable at night. There was no separate remote, just a wall switch, and the unit turned off at a set temperature and came back on when it got warmer. There was no way to set it stronger or weaker. When it ran, the airflow was strong and pointed straight at the bed; when it stopped, we had to sit through the tropical heat until it kicked back in. It wasn't too bothersome during the day, but sleeping meant alternating between hot and cold. The City View room faces Top Mart's parking lot, which stays busy until the store closes. If privacy matters, a sea view room is a better choice. The staff left a poor impression. During my three days there, I passed reception many times while heading out, visiting the convenience store, or taking walks, and not one receptionist greeted me. When we made eye contact, they would turn away. Staff friendliness makes a big difference to a hotel's first impression and overall quality. Whether it's a hotel, restaurant, or cafe, travelers' satisfaction starts with friendly service. When staff are welcoming, guests are more likely to put up with small inconveniences. We hope this place can become the best hotel in Tongyeong and welcome us back.

The view is lovely because the hotel is right by the beach. It's clean and nice, though a little far from the city center.

The location worked really well for our Tongyeong trip. Ganggu-an and Seoho Market aren't walkable, but they're about a 10-minute drive away, and the luge and cruise ship dock are right in front. There's a local supermarket behind the hotel, with convenience stores and well-known Dachi restaurants nearby. Our ocean view room had a veranda with a stunning view. The family suite was comfortable for two adults and two children, and surprisingly spacious for the price. It was about 77 square meters? There weren't separate bedrooms, but it had two double beds and a living room as large as a 130-square-foot apartment. The bedding was clean, and the room was very large, so it worked okay for a family with kids. But the details were disappointing. The bathroom wasn't particularly clean, though it wasn't unhygienic, and the facilities looked poorly maintained on closer inspection. The towels, other supplies, coffee and amenities felt very cheap, more like a motel. The suite had two bathrooms with a separate sink and a shower/tub combination, plus a small sink in an awkward spot and a small induction stove. There was no cookware, so cooking wasn't possible. The table had no light, the ceiling lighting was dim, and the furniture and bathroom layouts felt like a mess, with a lot of missing detail.
