Grand Hotel Victory

A few things to know before staying here. The swimming pool was closed, and there was no information about that when booking, only a notice in the elevator. We ordered lunch once, but it was so poor we couldn't eat it. We stayed for two weeks, and the breakfast barely changed. The only seasonal fruit they served was watermelon, and it wasn't in good condition. The customer service was very poor, and staff were rude. We were overcharged for services that were supposed to be included. We also had to change rooms several times because something was broken each time, including windows, lockers, or taps. Smoking in the hallway wasn't isolated, so the smell got into the rooms. When we suggested improvements, staff treated it like an argument, and even the manager behaved the same way.

I spent a couple of days here on a business trip in early October 2012. The spa and rooftop pool were awesome, and the view was breathtaking. It's right at the mouth of the Caspian Sea. Simply super, I'd recommend it to anyone.

The location is convenient, and you can get to anywhere in the city in 10-20 minutes. I stay here every time I visit Aktau. There's a dining place inside, and a couple of pints of beer are a nice bonus. The indoor pool is on the top level, along with a very old snooker table. I'd suggest this place to anyone.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and the service was good. The hotel is in a handy location, though breakfast was only average. It seems much the same at several hotels.
