Grand Nur Plaza Hotel

My room was dirty when I arrived, and there was no housekeeping. They lost my clothes, the gym staff were rude, and they couldn't arrange a taxi properly. This place has nothing that makes it a three-star hotel, even though they list it as five. Check the other options in Aqtau before booking. The room service was the worst I've ever had.

At first I thought this was a nice hotel, but the problems kept piling up during my week here. The room phone never worked, even though it was plugged in, and staff couldn't fix it. A taxi left without me because they couldn't call to say it had arrived. The bathroom phone did work. The room wasn't set up well for working. There was no office chair, the desk had no light, the room lighting was inadequate, and the bedside lamps wouldn't turn on despite trying several switches. I also couldn't find spa information in the room binder, although the front desk said it was there. After checking three times, I had to go downstairs to ask in person. Housekeeping took away the iron and board I had asked to use for the whole week, then did it again after bringing them back. They didn't leave shampoo one day, though they did leave ear-cleaning swabs. I asked for shampoo, which came in little packets that are hard to open without scissors or a knife. The shower shelf was also removed, so I had to leave things on the floor. Another day there was no body wash, no tea, and no clean cup in place of the dirty one. The restaurant and bar often seemed to be out of almost everything. Still, the hotel itself seemed nice at first. I ended up moving to the Renaissance, which was much nicer and had better service. A new Holiday Inn was also about to open in a nice area of town.

Bek made our stay especially good. He went out of his way to help arrange travel for the next part of our journey and make sure we had a great time at the hotel. We had an excellent stay.

The room was more or less okay, and breakfast was good. The business lunch was terrible, and the restaurant wasn't very good either. There was also no clearing of the ice and snow in front of the hotel.
