For $32 a night, it's a decent, basic hotel in a good spot. The bed is firm, the shower gets hot, the room is clean and quiet. Oddly, there's no sink in the bathroom, so you end up washing your hands with the shower. Still a reasonable choice if you're nearby.

Think twice before staying here. I had a confirmed Booking.com reservation made two weeks ahead, but when I arrived to check in, they turned me away. They either jot reservation details on a scrap of paper or don't record them at all, and apparently had forgotten my booking. They even told me to "understand" and complained about Booking.com. On the day of a major concert in Almaty, I found much better accommodation for the same price within 30 minutes.

Of the four hotels I stayed in during my Almaty visit, this was both the worst and the most expensive. The room was old and worn, and sound carried through the walls. There was no soap, despite it being listed as included, and they said I could buy some. The service was terrible and arrogant.
