I booked this hostel for its location near ALMATY 2 railway station. We were three people arriving in the morning, with a reservation for a four-bed dorm, but the manager said they didn't have one and put us in an eight-bed dorm instead. We paid 10000 tenge. After we showered, he said we'd made a mistake because water had spilled out of the shower area, and demanded a 5000 tenge fine. He said he'd fined another person 50000 tenge, and threatened to charge us more if I refused. The manager or owner scammed us this way. The place was also not clean. I travel a lot and have mostly stayed in hostels, and this policy was disgusting. The manager didn't know English, so we had to communicate through a phone translation app. Avoid this hostel.

The beds were clean, and it's close to the station. Everyone was friendly and the place was clean too. But the walls are very thin, so we could hear the family next door clearly until late.

I come back to this hostel whenever I'm in Almaty. Aselya, the hostess, is friendly and accommodating, and the kitchen has all the utensils you need. The rooms have single beds, they're cleaned well, and soap and toilet paper are provided. It's close to Almaty 2 train station, with lots of cafes, a Magnum store, and bus stops nearby. Green Bazaar and Mega shopping center, with leading clothing and food brands from around the world, are a 20-minute walk away. There are only two toilets with showers, though, and the internet sometimes went down.

For a stay of more than a couple of days, I'd look at other options. This is a quiet area near the train station, and the hostel has what you need for one or two days. Just don't expect a luxury hostel.

For 4,000 tenge, you get a bed in a shared room with five people. There's a shower, kitchen, clean bathrooms, fresh linens, and helpful staff. A nice spot to unwind after a long journey, right by the train station.
