Garden Park Inn Hotel

The room felt like an attic that should not have been in use. The carpet was stained and old, the windows were dirty, and the corridor was being redecorated, so I had to pull dust sheets aside just to get into my room. I had booked one night with early check-in and arrived at 4am to be given a room on the 10th floor, even though the lift only went to the 9th. Nobody offered to help with my bags, and after a long journey I had to drag them upstairs myself. Staff did not seem to understand when I complained. I was exhausted and staying only one night, so I put up with it. A horrible experience and poor value for money.

The location was okay, with the main tourist sights only a short taxi ride away. I stayed for two nights with my Dad, and the room was clean, comfortable, nicely equipped, and pleasant. When my dad became very sick, the night manager Emil was incredibly helpful. He arranged doctors, stayed with us for almost two hours to translate, and ordered the medication we needed to be delivered. We appreciated his help a lot.

They did eventually give me a room, but it was on the tenth floor, above the elevator's last stop. After hauling my suitcase up the stairs, I found the toilet seat visibly dirty and uncleaned. Earlier, the front desk couldn't find my reservation from an online platform. I understood that might not be their fault, but when I tried to find my confirmation and call the platform, they seemed exasperated that I was still there. It took nearly ten minutes after the platform called the manager to sort out a room. While we waited, one receptionist said “Americans are so emotional,” then tried to sell me his tour guide services. The manager came out to speak with the receptionists but did not address me. This hotel did not make me feel welcome.

Woosh scooters are parked within 20 meters, and the central location is handy. The staff were friendly and ready to help, and breakfast had a great range of choices. I found the rooms spacious, clean, and well kept, so it was easy to relax. Good value, with modern amenities. I'd happily recommend it.
