We ended up staying all six nights of our trip here, and it was one of my best decisions in Almaty. I'd found the hostel on booking.com after we arrived at the international airport around midnight and rested at another hotel for a few hours. We booked two bunk beds for one night, then met our host, "Sholpan". She was so welcoming and her hospitality was top notch. A convenience store is less than a minute away on foot, which was handy when we went out to explore nearby. The next day I asked Sholpan about tours she could arrange. She explained the options and told us which ones were boring. We had a language barrier, but that didn't stop us joking around with sign language. She even let us drink beers in the dining room, though it's actually prohibited, hehe. I met lots of interesting travelers, and some have become good friends. The hostel has a great location, a kitchen where you can make your own food, clean rooms and beds, and really warm hospitality. I'd definitely recommend it.

I was here for 12 days and found the location really convenient, right in the city center. Restaurants are close by, including Indian places like Spice Mantra, and there's a Dinos 24/7 within walking distance. The beds are spacious, with good personal space and individual lights, and lockers are provided. Everything was neat and clean, and overall I was comfortable with easy access to nearby amenities. The one issue was that reception staff didn't speak English, though you can use ChatGPT or Google Translate. Review written by Ash. Stayed 23.12.25 to 2.1.26

I really like this hostel in Almaty and would stay again. The receptionists are nice, though English isn't common among them, so be patient when communicating. There's a small dining area with amenities, strong Wi-Fi, hot and cold showers, and a well-kept toilet. The room was warm in winter and the beds were comfortable, even though they're old, thanks to the foam and mattress. The downside is limited space if you have a lot of large luggage. It's close to bus stops for Almaty Bus Station and near Del Cappuccino, an affordable coffee shop, plus a convenience store, Burger King, Starbucks, MRT, and a Turkish restaurant. The drawbacks didn't bother me, and I'd rate the hostel five stars.

A great place to stay, with polite and friendly staff. They were kind enough to accommodate my request for an early check-in, a small gesture that meant a lot. One thing to be aware of is that you might want an extra restroom. Thanks, Hostel 64. See you soon.

Getting around was easy from here, with attractions within walking distance and Almaty railway station just 2.5 km away. The receptionists were really helpful, and both the room and kitchen were clean. For the price, I don't have anything else to complain about. I'd recommend it.
