Hotel Ambassador

The only thing going for this place is its good location. Finding anyone at reception is a matter of luck. Ring once and someone may show up; ring over and over and that seems to be the usual experience. Staff don’t speak English, so bring a translator. The building is old and doesn’t feel like a four-star hotel at all. There’s no elevator, and nobody helped with my luggage, so I had to carry it up the stairs. The room was hot, dusty and dirty, with stained bedding and a filthy carpet containing old food and dirt. There was hair and stains on the bed, so I slept in my jacket rather than under the covers. The curtains let in the morning light, and the walls barely block noise from neighboring conversations. The bathroom was in poor shape too, including an uninviting bathtub. The door was difficult to lock and couldn’t be secured from inside. There was no Do Not Disturb sign, though I didn’t see any cleaning staff during my stay anyway. I left the next morning for a proper hotel, and did get a refund for the nights I didn’t use.
