The price was good value, though we’ve stayed in much better hostels. It’s in a quiet neighborhood, a moderate distance from the city center, but public transport isn’t very close. The reception staff were very nice, even though they didn’t speak English, and we managed with Google Translate. The rooms and bathrooms weren’t very clean, and the single shower for three toilets only had cold water. Wi-Fi kept cutting out, and the place felt a bit shabby and dull. There were no room keys or locker keys, and we weren’t given any tips about things to do in Almaty.

There weren’t many people staying while we were there, and the place has a separate kitchen where you can make your own food. My double room had one double bed and a TV. I booked through Booking.com, and that booking was free. It’s a decent hostel in a quiet part of Almaty. The staff seemed kind and helpful. With hostels, what can you really say when people mostly just come to sleep?

I only tried the food on the outdoor patio in the courtyard, not the hostel itself. The dishes were simple but tasty, and the prices were reasonable. The location is great, with a big, green, peaceful courtyard right in the city center.
