Hotel Ramada by Wyndham Almaty

The staff’s dismissive, rude attitude made an already poor stay at Ramada by Wyndham Almaty worse. They showed little willingness to help or resolve anything, which fell far short of what I’d expect from an international brand. We booked rooms 312 and 314 during extremely cold weather, but neither room’s heating worked. The hotel gave us a small temporary heater that did not warm the room, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. We also asked housekeeping for replacement cups so we could make tea or coffee again and were told only two complimentary cups were allowed. In freezing weather, refusing extra cups unless we ordered paid room service seemed unreasonable. I’d strongly advise future travelers to think twice before booking.

Breakfast was very good, like at most Ramada hotels, but the room service quality surprised me in a bad way. My room’s air conditioning wasn’t working properly. I complained three times and nobody came. There was also a strange old smell in the rooms, maybe because the hotel is old and has old architecture. Very bad service.

The food at Ramada Almaty was disappointing. The Minestrone had no tomato broth and was basically bland boiled vegetables. The Arrabbiata pasta tasted like noodles covered in cheap ketchup instead of proper tomato sauce. And the Salmon steak was completely undercooked, with skin that hadn’t been crisped or properly cooked, so it was unappetizing and impossible to eat. I’d expect better food and attention to detail from a hotel of this tier.

I liked the hotel’s atmosphere and location, and the rooms were tidy and clean. The disappointing part was the vegetarian food. Breakfast was included, but there weren’t suitable vegetarian options. There was also a language barrier, so it was hard to explain what we wanted or understand what was being said.
