A clean, tidy mini-hotel with affordable rates. A single room is 12,000 tenge. Nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a night's sleep.
Rose Art Hotel was a terrible experience, and I can't understand where all the positive reviews came from. I booked three rooms for my colleagues on a business trip, for three nights, and wouldn't send them here again. The standard rooms we rented were incredibly cramped. You walked in and were basically on the bed. One colleague's room was by reception, where the constant noise kept her awake. I asked to move her, but was told there was nowhere else. Two rooms had bedside tables; in the third, a noisy mini-fridge took its place. It rattled so badly at night that we had to switch it off, though it served as both fridge and nightstand. The entrance was another problem, a snow-covered, slippery ramp that staff hadn't cleared, difficult to climb with suitcases. The shower was rusty and only ran when lifted up to the ceiling. We ran out of toilet paper and were given half a roll that someone had already used. Seriously? The payment issue started two days before check-in, when staff insisted I pay the first night even though my booking was made under the old policy, with payment on arrival. They said the rules had recently changed after I booked. Booking.com customer service confirmed I didn't owe anything in advance. Everything felt bad from the start, and the hotel itself was just as bad. I raised the problems on the hotel's WhatsApp. They answered that at least my colleagues had checked out an hour late. The receptionist had first asked for 1,000 tenge per room for that, and my colleagues agreed to pay. The next morning, the receptionist said they didn't need to pay and let me check out at 1:00 PM instead of noon. None of that made up for the stay. Everything was terrible, and I don't recommend it to anyone.
